Life in Jimena de la frontera is lived at a pace that suits the traveller who wishes to appreciate the essence of a region. Situated in the foothills of the Serrania de Ronda and twenty minutes from both the atlantic ocean and the mediterranean sea, Jimena de la frontera has everything from stunning landscapes, to architecture influenced by the Iberians, Phoenicians and Carthaginians as well as by the Romans, who made good use of the rich metal deposits found there.
Casa Henrietta will appeal
Both beginners and experienced painters and sculptors are welcome to join us at Casa Henrietta for a week of painting, sculpture and drawing in this magical place. Facilities include access to our studio located in the centre of Jimena which is fitted out for sculpture and painting, you can also bake your own bread in an authentic charcoal oven or relax reading or reflecting on your creative day in our beautiful patio/garden. Instruction will be given to those who require it ,but the emphasis will be on creativity, the sharing of ideas and the appreciation of the surrounding area.
A big part of this is of course the food and wine of the region which can be enjoyed as it has been for centuries beside an orange grove with the smell of blossom on the wind. Venison, fresh fish and seafood, cheese, olives and olive oil, orange jam, organic vegetables and meats, wine from Manilva, spanish hams, patés, country chickens and fresh juices straight from the tree on a carpet of grass underneath a ceiling of sky.
